TDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange code: 6762) recently made its debut at the Shenzhen International Sensor and Application Technology Exhibition (SENSOR SHENZHEN 2025). Through showcasing multi scenario solutions in automotive, industrial, ICT, and other industries, and sharing in-depth with industry forums, TDK not only reflects its profound accumulation in core sensing technology, but also interprets the latest development trend of multi-sensor fusion systems and how to combine AI to empower industrial transformation.
Automotive thermal management system drives the growth of high-precision temperature sensor market
In the application of new energy vehicles, the thermal management system should not only efficiently cool and heat the core components of the vehicle such as batteries, motors, and OBCs, ensuring that they are at the optimal operating temperature, but also work in conjunction with the heater and heating pump of the air conditioning system to maintain a comfortable interior temperature. Building a more efficient and reliable automotive thermal management system has become a necessity, bringing huge incremental space for related sensor products.
TDK has demonstrated a car heat pump demonstration system that uses various high-precision and high-sensitivity temperature sensors to meet the core demand for energy conservation and efficiency improvement in thermal management systems. It can meet the requirements of single temperature and temperature pressure integrated measurement, and provides various forms such as plug-in, sleeve, and buckle for different scenarios. Among them, the plug-in temperature sensor can directly contact the refrigerant or liquid, with fast reaction time and more accurate measurement; The sleeve type temperature sensor is easy to install, avoiding any risk of refrigerant or cooling water leakage.
TDK has achieved the optimal balance between sensor performance and cost through process innovation and modular design. TDK Electronics Senior Manager Liu Wei emphasized that TDK's P+T temperature pressure integrated sensor adopts advanced silicon piezoresistive pressure sensors and high-precision thermistors based on MEMS technology, ensuring precise control of the flow of refrigerant and cooling water in the pipeline, thereby achieving more efficient energy utilization. Compared to ceramic capacitor temperature pressure integrated sensors on the market, TDK temperature pressure integrated sensors are smaller in size and lighter in weight, which is in line with the trend of pursuing lightweight and miniaturization in the automotive industry and has a strong competitive advantage
Combining intelligence, integration, and low power consumption, new species of industrial sensors emerge constantly
TDK also showcased a complete product ecosystem from basic sensors to system solutions for industrial applications. For example, industrial grade temperature sensors can cover a wide temperature range of -40 ℃ to+300 ℃, support customized cable design and UL certification, and are suitable for scenarios such as solar inverters, energy storage devices, and medical equipment.
Meanwhile, TDK has launched PositionSense, a leading technology for precise positioning and relative position detection? The sensor subsystem has become another major focus of the booth, attracting widespread attention. By designing and placing TDK's low-power 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) and 3-axis magnetometer based on tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) according to corresponding rules, supplemented by rich on-chip software functions, TDK's system solution can achieve fast and accurate direction tracking and has many low-power characteristics emphasized by target applications.
Zhou Hongji, Senior Director of Product Marketing at TDK InvenSense, said, "Traditional sensors are sensitive to environmental factors such as PCB stress, heat sources, and magnetic fields. The innovative PositionSense? Is different from the integration of traditional 9-axis sensors in a single chip, but uses two separate chips to achieve the 9-axis sensor function, enhancing the device's anti-interference ability to environmental changes and significantly improving the flexibility of hardware design. At the same time, PositionSense? The low-power characteristics of the device allow for continuous operation and real-time calibration, providing accurate pointing at any time, which can greatly enhance the user experience. It is widely applicable to smartphones, high-end wearable devices, drones, robots, and gaming devices
The edgeRX, an advanced one-stop platform for machine health monitoring newly launched by TDKSensEl, a subsidiary of TDK, also appeared on the scene. By integrating advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, edge computing and powerful sensor equipment, it can directly provide real-time machine health monitoring, predictive maintenance insights and operational alerts. As a comprehensive, plug and play solution, the miniaturized and cost-effective edgeRX platform does not require extensive setup or specialized integration, allowing customers to quickly deploy and reduce maintenance costs while improving overall operational efficiency.
It is also worth mentioning that TDK showcased the Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) interface digital silicon microphone T5838 at this year's sensor event, which exclusively integrates Acoustic Activity Detection (AAD) function. It has a high acoustic overload point of 133 dB SPL, a high signal-to-noise ratio of 68 dBA, and a wide dynamic range. It is suitable for applications such as network cameras (battery powered), voice controlled TV remote controls, home security smoke alarm monitoring, glass breakage detection, voice controlled wearable devices, and voice controlled home IoT devices, with ultra-low power consumption 50-70% lower than competitors. Acoustic activity detection is a new ultra-low power edge processing feature where MEMS microphones can monitor the acoustic environment and wake up the main SoC or application processor from deep power down mode when activity is detected, maximizing system battery life.
In short, from efficient thermal management systems for new energy vehicles to predictive operation and maintenance of various industrial equipment empowered by AI, and to enhancing the ultimate experience of a wide range of intelligent terminal devices, TDK is driving the evolution of sensing technology from data collection to intelligent decision-making through innovation, helping thousands of industry customers achieve digital transformation and sustainable development goals.
