Summary of Content

Compared with the previous generation of products, Cadence's new generation "Power Double Sword" combination has increased capacity by more than 2 times and is 1.5 times faster, which can help designers quickly develop advanced chips to meet the needs of generative AI, mobile, automotive, ultra large scale, and LLM applications;

The Palladium Z3 hardware simulation is equipped with a new self-developed Cadence hardware simulation core processor, providing faster and more predictive compilation and comprehensive pre silicon hardware debugging functions;

The Protium X3 prototype verification platform can quickly set up the initial environment for silicon front-end software verification of billion gate level designs;

The seamless integration process, with a unified compiler and universal virtual and physical interfaces, enables rapid migration of designs from hardware simulation platforms to prototype verification platforms.

Shanghai, China, December 25, 2024- Kaideng Electronics (Cadence Corporation, NASDAQ: CDNS) launched the new generation Cadence in the first half of the year? Palladium?  Z3 Simulation and Protium? The X3 FPGA Prototype Verification System is a disruptive digital twin platform based on the industry-leading Palladium Z2 and Protium X2 systems, designed to address increasingly complex system and semiconductor designs and accelerate the development of more advanced SoCs. Palladium and Protium systems are highly acclaimed in the industry and trusted by leading AI, automotive, ultra large scale, network, and mobile chip companies, providing higher throughput pre silicon hardware debugging and pre silicon software verification. The newly launched Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 systems are specifically designed for the industry's largest billion gate level design, raising the standard of excellent design to a new level. Compared with the previous generation products, customers will receive more than twice the capacity expansion and 1.5 times the speed improvement, accelerating the establishment of the initial environment and speeding up the overall product launch speed.

Driven by the demand of the new generation market, system and semiconductor innovation is urgent. In this context, our customers are facing increasingly severe challenges, as they need to develop chips for the most advanced applications, "said Paul Cunningham, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Systems and Verification Business Unit at Cadence.

The capacity of the Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 systems is larger, supporting scales ranging from 16 million to 48 billion gates, allowing for overall (rather than partial model) testing of ultra large SoCs to ensure appropriate functionality and performance. Both systems use NVIDIA BlueField DPU and NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand network connectors, which not only ensure consistency in switching between systems, but also enable free conversion between virtual interfaces and physical interfaces. On the basis of accelerating hardware verification in the Palladium Z3 system, the Protium X3 system can quickly complete the deployment of relevant models to accelerate software verification by utilizing consistent functionality and interface features.

The powerful Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 are designed to provide fast silicon pre validation and inspection for larger and more complex designs, "said Dhiraj Goswami, Global Vice President of Cadence Hardware System Validation R&D." We use innovative custom chips and system architecture, coupled with revolutionary modular compilation and debugging capabilities, to complete multiple design validation iterations in one day, constantly breaking through limits, meeting customer needs, helping them cope with the most severe challenges, and continuously launching new generations of innovative products.

Building an efficient and high-performance AI platform requires the use of mature infrastructure and the integration of a complete set of optimized systems and software, "said Scott Schultz, Senior Director of NVIDIA Networks." With the acceleration of NVIDIA network technology, the new generation Cadence Platform and Protium systems have broken through the limits of capacity and performance, and can help usher in a new era of generative AI computing.

The Palladium Z3 system offers new domain specific applications, allowing users to use the most comprehensive product portfolio to cope with increasing system and semiconductor design complexity, improve system level accuracy, and accelerate low-power verification. Applications targeting specific fields include the industry's first 4-state hardware simulation application, real modeling application, and dynamic power analysis application.

As SoCs become increasingly complex, the importance of scalable validation and verification tools is becoming more prominent, as they enable large-scale software testing before chip fabrication, "said Tran Nguyen, Senior Director of Arm Design Services." Cadence's latest hardware validation platform and tools are driving innovation in Arm IP design for AI, automotive, and data center applications, and we believe our mutual customers will benefit from it.

In order to deliver outstanding computing products, AMD needs to integrate multiple silicon front-end solutions and technologies to address large-scale validation challenges, "said Alex Starr, AMD Enterprise Researcher." The Cadence Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 systems enhance our capabilities in hardware simulation and enterprise prototype validation, helping us improve design efficiency and achieve our product launch goals smoothly. We are also collaborating with Cadence to integrate AMD Versal? Premium VP1902 adaptive SoC integrated into Protium X3 system and will be based on AMD EPYC? The host server of the processor is integrated into the Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 systems to increase capacity, achieve higher performance, and scalability.

The Palladium Z3 and Protium X3 systems are part of the broader Cadence validation suite, supporting Cadence's Intelligent System Design strategy aimed at achieving SoC design excellence. The system has been successfully deployed for some customers and is expected to be fully launched in the second quarter of 2025.
