On January 14, 2025, Dalian University Holdings, an international leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Quanding has launched an intelligent security monitoring solution based on the NOVATEK NT98692 chip.
With the continuous growth of public demand for daily safety, the market for intelligent surveillance cameras is showing strong development momentum. The demand for intelligent real-time monitoring, abnormal behavior detection, and efficient data storage and analysis is significantly increasing in public places, commercial facilities, and private residences. In order to speed up the design and iteration of the intelligent security monitoring system, DaLianDa Quanding launched an intelligent security monitoring scheme based on Lianyong Technology NT98692 chip, which can support edge computing IP cameras and back-end monitoring system XVR applications.
NT98692 is a highly integrated SoC under Lianyong Technology, which has the advantages of high image quality, low bit rate, and low power consumption. Is this SoC equipped with quad core ARM? Cortex?- A73 CPU, And integrate new generation ISP and AI ISP technologies to bring users an unprecedented image processing experience. At the same time, NT98692 also integrates H.265/H.264 video compression codecs to ensure efficient and smooth video transmission. In terms of hardware configuration, NT98692 is equipped with DSP, high-performance hardware DLA module, and graphics engine, further enhancing its processing capability. In addition, it also has three display controllers, which integrate high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet GMAC, PCIe Gen3, SATA, as well as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 host/device interfaces in terms of network connectivity, providing users with a wide range of data transfer options. What's more, NT98692 also has built-in audio codec, RTC and SD/SDIO 3.0 interfaces, which fully meet the diversified requirements of edge computing IP cameras and XVR applications.
In terms of software, this solution is built using Linux 5.10 environment, and the software architecture is HDAL (Hardware Device Abstraction Layer). HDAL is a layer located between the transparent hardware driver layer and the chip driver layer, whose function is to transform the hardware abstraction layer into a universal API independent of the chip, thereby simplifying functional implementation. With the help of HDAL, this solution can maximize chip energy efficiency and enable users to quickly complete the development of related functions.
Thanks to the support of software and hardware, this solution can significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of security prevention, and build a solid technical defense line for security protection in places such as homes and enterprises.
